Saudi-Led Coalition Destroys Houthi Drones Fired at Civilian Targets

The Saudi-led coalition supporting the internationally recognized government of Yemen destroyed several drones targeting Saudi Arabian targets, including Abha International airport in the south of the country, Saudi Arabia’s state television reported. The drones were launched on Sunday from Sanaa International Airport, which is under the control of the Houthi rebels. Drones also targeted civilians at King Abdullah Airport in Jazan and Khamis Mushayt, a city in southwest Saudi Arabia.

The coalition responded with airstrikes later on Sunday on what it termed “legitimate military targets” in Houthi-held Sanaa. The coalition called on civilians to stay away from the sites it planned to target.

Saudi Arabia’s deputy defense minister, Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, met on Sunday with Yemen Prime Minister Mueen Abdul-Malik Saeed in Riyadh and reaffirmed the Arab Coalition’s commitment to support the Yemeni government, the prince said in a tweet.  Prince Khalid also said that Saudi Arabia is “monitoring the difficult economic situation of the Yemeni people,” the Saudi Press Agency reported on Monday.
