Saudi Arabia has released three writers who were among at least eight journalists, writers, business owners and entrepreneurs arrested this month in an apparent crackdown on perceived rights activists, reformists, and critics of the government, according to the London-based Saudi human rights monitor ALQST. The three include banker and publisher Suleiman al-Saikhan, businessman and former blogger Fuad al-Farhan, and journalist Bader al-Rashed. On the Twitter platform, ALQST said these three were released “due to international pressure and media coverage” and that Saudi Arabia “must release all prisoners of conscience and stop attacking free speech.”
