A senior member of the recently formed armed Palestinian organization Lions’ Den was killed early Sunday in an explosion in Nablus, in the northern West Bank city of Nablus. Reports vary on the case of the explosion that kicked Tamer Kilani with some saying that he was killed while preparing an explosive device, and the group saying he was assassinated by Israel. The group released surveillance camera footage it says showed an individual placing an explosive on Kilani’s motorcycle which exploded when he approached it.

Kilani reportedly was involved in several attacks on Israelis, and a thwarted attack on Tel Aviv that could have killed many people. The armed group has claimed responsibility for several attacks in and around Nablus in recent weeks, as well as the attack earlier this month that killed Israeli soldier Staff Sgt. Ido Baruch.
Nablus has been closed by the IDF for the last two weeks, due to the number of attacks.
