Terror Group Says it Caused Blast Near Israeli Embassy in New Delhi

A terror group said to be backed by Iran claimed responsibility for an explosion near the Israeli embassy in New Delhi, India.

The explosion on Friday did not cause any injuries or deaths. Several cars in the area were damaged. The embassy building was unharmed.

A previously unknown terror group called Jaish-ul-Hind took responsibility for the attack in a post on Telegram, an encrypted messaging platform.

A letter found at the scene of the attack called the explosion a “trailer,” and referenced two assassinated “martyrs”: Gen. Qazem Soleimani, Head of the Quds Force, the foreign operations arm of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps; and Iranian lead nuclear scientist Moshen Fakhrizadeh.

Indian police have questioned Iranian nationals in the country and a cab driver who dropped off two people near the site of the attack right before the explosion, India today reported.

The embassy reportedly already had been on high alert due to threats it had received, according to Israeli media.
