Thousands of Hamas Supporters March in East Jerusalem

Crowds of Palestinians carrying the flag of the Hamas terror group and shouting pro-Hamas slogans demonstrated in the streets of the Shuafat refugee camp in east Jerusalem hours after a member of Hamas from the neighborhood, identified as a father of five and mosque preacher, Fadi Abu Shkhaydam, killed one Israeli and wounded four others in a terror attack in the Old City of Jerusalem. The hundreds of demonstrators clashed with Israel Police officers during the Sunday evening march.

Abu Shkhaydam was killed by security forces at the scene of the attack near the Chain Gate, an entrance to the Temple Mount. He reportedly had planned the attack and sent his wife and children to Jordan three days ago. Israeli security forces entered the Shuafat neighborhood and searched the family home after the attack, which killed a 25-year-old new immigrant from South Africa, Eli Kay.

The demonstrators marched toward Abu Shkhaydam’s house, chanting “Millions of martyrs will march to Jerusalem,” and “We’re Mohammad Deif’s men,” referring to the supreme military commander of Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas’ military wing.

Also on Sunday evening, several hundred Israeli nationalists marched from Jerusalem’s Jaffa Gate to the Western Wall, waving Israeli flags. The crowd recited Psalms at the site of the attack. Some of the marchers chanted anti-Arab slogans.
