The Pentagon has decided to send home over a dozen Saudi military personnel training in the United States in the wake of a fatal shooting by a Saudi airman. No reason was given for the move, with the US military command referring queries to the Justice Department – although CNN reported that those being expelled from the US had nothing to do with the December 6 shooting incident in which a Saudi air force officer, 21-year-old Saudi Air Force 2nd Lt. Mohammed Saeed Alshamrani shot and killed two US military personnel at Naval Base Pensacola in Florida. The Pentagon shut down all operational training for all Saudi soldiers several days after the shooting, announcing a little over a week later that some 850 Saudi personnel had been cleared.
