US State Department Approves Tank Ammunition Deal With Kuwait

The US State Department has approved a potential $250 million deal with Kuwait to provide ammunition for the country’s fleet of M1A2 Abrams tanks, according to the Pentagon. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) notified Congress on Tuesday of the new foreign military sale.

The sale will allow Kuwait to deter and defend against land-based threats, and help protect border regions and key land-based infrastructure, the Pentagon said in a statement. Such a notification does not mean that a contract has been signed, however. General Dynamics Corp is the prime contractor for the proposed sale, according to the Pentagon.
