Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas told an Israeli think tank to “Quote me on this: I’m prepared to meet Netanyahu at any time.” For his part, the Israeli prime minister has said on several occasions that he is prepared to travel to Ramallah or anywhere else to meet Abbas, adding that he is certain that the two of them alone could hammer out an agreement. But now that both men are on record as being willing to meet the other “any time,” there is still no indication that it is going to happen. Abbas reiterated the Palestinian redlines, saying any agreement must be based on a return to 1967 borders and a state of Palestine whose capital is east Jerusalem.
