After ‘Quds Day’ Fiasco, Hizbullah To Be Fully Banned In Britain

This week’s “Quds Day” march through central London may have been the final time that Hizbullah flags are legally flown in Britain, as Home Secretary Sajid Javid reportedly is planning to fully blacklist the Lebanese Shiite group. Until now, Britain has obfuscated between the Iranian proxy’s so-called political wing and military branch, the latter of which was designated a terrorist organization by London in 2008 after British troops were attacked by Hizbullah forces in Iraq. According to Britain’s Jewish Chronicle, citing high-ranking officials, the “decisive action” will be taken later this year. If so, Britain will join the United States, Canada, the Netherlands and Arab League states as the only countries to totally ban Hizbullah. For its part, the European Union continues only to proscribe Hizbullah’s military arm—a designation made in 2013 following the Lebanese organization’s attack on an Israeli tour bus in Bulgaria—which effectively allows Hizbullah to recruit and raise funds throughout the continent. Germany, for example, is home to nearly 1,000 active Hizbullah members, allegedly the result of a shady deal made years ago permitting the Lebanese group to operate on German soil in return for not attacking German assets.
