Ahmadi Nejad Appeals to Americans to Leave Iraq; Curb Support for Israel

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadi Nejad has issued an open letter to the American public urging "Noble Americans" to demand that U.S. troops be withdrawn from Iraq and an end to "blind support for the Zionists by the U.S. administration." The letter was distributed by the Iranian mission to the United Nations in New York. Referring to Israel, Ahmadi Nejad charged that "the interests of these occupiers supersedes the interests of the American people."  The Iranian suggested that the Democratic victories in the mid-term election are the result of the Bush administration’s Middle East policies. Admonishing Democrats that, "you will also be held to account by the people and by history," Ahmadi Nejad warned that "the American people would similarly reject the new electoral winners" unless they govern "with an approach based on truth and justice."
