Air raids, apparently conducted by the U.S., attacked a meeting of Al-Qaeda officials as well as a control post in Yemen overnight. Tribal officials told Agence France Presse on Tuesday that around 15 people, including a long-sought regional militant leader, Abdul Monem Al-Fahtani, were killed in the attacks. Al-Qaeda fighters have taken advantage of months of political turmoil in Yemen to overrun parts of the south. Three of the raids targeted a school in which Al-Qaeda fighters and the heads of a local militant network were meeting around midnight, the sources said. A fourth strike hit an Al-Qaeda control post.
