The International Criminal Court (ICC) on Saturday confirmed reports that Libya’s Seif Al-Islam Al-Qaddafi, the most prominent of the deceased Libyan strongman’s sons, is in contact via intermediaries about surrendering for trial. But ICC officials said they also had information that efforts were underway to enable him to escape justice by bringing him to a friendly African nation. In Libya, the transitional government meanwhile insisted Al-Qaddafi must be tried at home. ICC Prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo told Reuters he is not making any deal with Seif Al-Islam but simply informing that he had no choice but to face trial for war crimes. "He says he is innocent," said the prosecutor.
