Al-Qa’ida Suicide Bomber Kills At Least 25 Syrian Soldiers

A suicide bomber from the Al-Nusra Front allied with al-Qai’da blew himself up at a Syrian army outpost in a contested neighborhood in the city of Aleppo. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a UK-based group said at least 25 soldiers were killed and dozens of others were wounded. The explosion from the blast was reportedly heard throughout the city of Aleppo, which has been the scene of some of the fiercest fighting of the civil war. Well into its fourth year, the Syrian civil war shows no sign of ending. According to the UN, at least 220,000 people have been killed in the fighting and millions have been forced to leave their homes. Islamic State has taken over large areas of Syria, and some fear the country could fracture into several smaller de facto states.
