Al-Qa’ida Takes Credit for Attack on TV Station; Promises More Attacks on Media

The Iraqi arm of Al-Qa’ida has taken responsibility for this week’s suicide bombing of the Al-Arabiyya television studio in Baghdad and says it will target more media entities in the future. Posting an announcement on an Islamists website, the Al-Qa’ida affiliate known as ‘the Islamic State of Iraq’ said the Saudi-owned, Dubai-based news channel was “corrupted” and said it will attack other media targets that it sees as “tools in the war against Allah and His Messenger.” Four people died in the suicide bombing at the Baghdad studio on Monday.
