Al-Qa’ida Yemen Offers Bounty for U.S. Ambassador, American GIs

A bounty of three kilograms (6.6 pounds) of gold, worth more than $150,000, is being offered to anyone who kills the American ambassador to Yemen. A reward of 5 million riyals (Yemeni currency worth about $23,200) is being offered to anyone who kills an American GI in Yemen. These offers were posted on a website affiliated with the Al-Qa’ida Yemeni franchise on Saturday without providing details such as how one might go about collecting  his/her promised reward, but did place a six-month time limit on the offer. The Yemeni military has been fighting Al-Qa’ida forces, particularly in the south of the country, with the guidance and assistance of the American military and the Central Intelligence Agency.
