Al-Sissi Hangs Record 15 Prisoners in One Day
In spite of the spate of negative attention Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sissi’s abysmal record on human rights attracts, the former army chief showed no hesitation in allowing the image of a record 15 hangings taking place in a single day when the death sentences were part of his war on terror. The prisoners who were put to death at two prisons in the northern part of the country on Tuesday were all convicted of being part of the assault on Egyptian policemen in the northern Sinai Peninsula in October that left at least 16 and perhaps more police and civilians dead. Undeterred, the terrorists carried out another attack in November killed 300 people in a mosque. ISIS is suspected to have been responsible for the carnage, but it has not claimed responsibility.
