Airstrikes carried out by the US-led coalition have so far left 910 people dead, among them 52 civilians. The figures were released by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the group that monitors the Syrian civil war. ISIS has lost 785 of its fighters to the American strikes. The United Nations’ figures place the overall death toll in the civil war at more than 200,000. On Saturday, the official Russian news agency TASS quoted Foreign Minister Lavrov as suggesting that the American-led strikes in Syria are really intended to wage a clandestine war to topple Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad. Lavrov was quoted as saying that, “The Americans say that Assad’s regime is a very important factor that brings terrorists to the region to try to topple him. I think this is absolutely perverted logic.”
