Another Travel Disaster in Egypt

The death toll on Egypt’s roads has risen by 20, after a truck drove straight into and through a minibus about 70 miles south of Cairo. Investigators say the minibus attempted to overtake a car and was hit by the truck, which was headed in the opposite direction. Some 6,000 people die on Egypt’s road each year. The country’s entire transport system is prone to disasters, with at least three fatal railroad crashes having been reported in recent months, leaving dozens dead and hundreds injured. There are also regular boating accidents on the Nile, with sometimes rickety vessels taking on too much water, drowning many passengers.
