The car bombs exploded in Shi’ite Muslim areas, bringing the week’s death toll to almost 200, as violence between Shi’ites and Sunnis is intensifying. The tensions are at their highest since US troops pulled out of Iraq more than a year ago. Iraq also closed a border crossing with Jordan for two days, starting Tuesday, due to what the Interior Minister called “organizational issues.” Iraq’s government has found it difficult to share power among all of Iraq’s religious and ethnic groups.
