Arab Summit Offers Support for Palestinian Position

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict tops the agenda of the Arab summit meeting in Libya. Palestinian Authority head Mahmoud ‘Abbas told the 2-day conference that no agreement will be acceptable unless it includes an “end to Israeli occupation of east Jerusalem.” The Palestinians are also asking the Arab nations to provide massive funding to be used in developing the Palestinian presence in Jerusalem. Also on the docket is the Iranian nuclear issue. Arab League head Amr Moussa echoed the ‘Abbas threat, saying that the indirect talks proposed by the Obama administration will not begin until Israel has frozen all building in post-1967 areas, including Jerusalem.
