A safe believed to have belonged to Yassir Arafat during the time he lived in Lebanon was discovered near a former Fatah base. Although the story conjures memories of Al Capone’s safe and its dramatic and anticlimactic opening on network TV by Geraldo Rivera, it appears that in this case the honors will go to representatives of the Hizbullah and Amal terrorist organizations, according to Lebanon’s Al-Jadeed TV. In another similarity to the Capone affair, a Palestinian source in Lebanon was quoted by Al-Jadeed as casting doubt on whether the safe really did belong to Arafat, saying it was not found in or near his former home.
