The Media Line is proud to bring you an inspiring story from artist Hooman Khalili [1], who created 18 murals across Israel to honor Iranian women and build bridges between Persians and Jews. This unique art initiative, spanning 21 months and 17 trips between the US and Israel, began with a mural in San Francisco honoring Mahsa Amini and quickly grew into a mission of solidarity and resistance. The murals celebrate Iranian women’s bravery, highlight shared histories, and symbolize hope for freedom and justice.
Khalili’s journey was not without challenges. Facing financial strain and personal setbacks, he pressed forward, completing murals in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Netanya, and beyond. Each mural tells a story, from honoring Iranian martyrs to spotlighting figures like Queen Esther and Iranian rapper Toomaj Salehi, whose life was saved partly thanks to the artwork.

Truth and understanding
The Media Line's intrepid correspondents are in Israel, Gaza, Lebanon, Syria and Pakistan providing first-person reporting.
They all said they cover it.
We see it.
We report with just one agenda: the truth.

The project continued even after Hamas’ October 7 attack on Israel, with Khalili unveiling his final mural in October 2024—a collage representing the entire series. Through these murals, Khalili’s work has sparked global conversations about justice, freedom, and unity.
