At the International Criminal Court: “State of Palestine vs. The United States of America”

Media coverage is rife with reports of the Palestinian Authority’s threats to bring actions against Israel at the International Criminal Court at The Hague, but the latest filing reads: “The State of Palestine vs. The United States of America and demands the court force the U.S. to remove its embassy from Jerusalem. The Palestinian position in the suit denies Israeli sovereignty over Jerusalem altogether, arguing that the 1961 Vienna Convention requires an embassy to be on a nation’s territory which Jerusalem is not. In May, President Trump said he was bringing the nation in line with reality by moving the embassy to Jerusalem which is the capital in all aspects. The move infuriated the Palestinians who responded by banning any cooperation with the U.S. In his speech to the United Nations General Assembly last week, PA President Mahmoud Abbas accused President Trump of reneging on previous commitments and undermining the two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
