Attack on Libyan Hotel Kills Nine, Including Foreigners

A luxury hotel on the Mediterranean coast in the Libyan capital of Tripoli was attacked by gunmen on Tuesday leaving nine dead in the wake of the assault. Four foreign guests including an American and five security guards were killed before police cornered two assailants who killed themselves with a hand grenade after a lengthy stand-off. Ten people were wounded. The attackers began the assault on the Corinthia Hotel in the early morning hours by setting off a car bomb. The violence was just the latest in the long line of violent incidents that mark the power struggle that began with the ouster and death of longtime strongman Mu’amar Qadafi.
