Authorities Ponder Consolidating Multiple Netanyahu Graft Cases

Israel’s prosecutor is mulling over the consolidation of the four cases incriminating Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu as two are set to return to the prosecutor from the Taxes and Finance Office. He also admonished the public that notwithstanding the public pressure to move the cases forward, they will take as long as is necessary. Nevertheless, the prosecutor’s office appears to have crossed into areas that are seemingly beyond the scope of the investigation with reports of so-called “pressure” from the PM’s wife and son on policy issues. Media is reporting that “additional investigations” were undertaken in regard to Netanyahu’s decisions at the time of the Amman Embassy shooting and the placing of metal detectors at the Temple Mount, both of which combined to create a diplomatic crisis with Jordan. Media claim the state’s witness asserted that Netanyahu’s decisions were overturned because of son Yair’s yelling and wife Sara’s pressure. Critics of the prosecutor argue that even if the latter were true it would not amount to anything criminally actionable.
