Baghdad Curfew Continued

The round-the-clock curfew requiring residents of Baghdad to stay in their homes has been extended for an indefinite period. It was imposed last Thursday when fighting flared between Iraqi troops and the forces of radical cleric Moqtada Sadr’s Mehdi army. Iraqi officials have called on Sadr’s followers to lay down their weapons, but that call has been rejected. Nationwide, hundreds have been killed in the fighting since early last week.
