The Palestinian Yarmouk refugee camp near Damascus has returned to the front of the Syrian crisis as fighting escalated between pro-Syrian PFLP-General Command fighters and members of the Syrian opposition. The camp was the scene of fierce fighting that erupted last August as government forces pounded the camp and its neighboring areas with bombs, killing a number of people.
The Syrian Revolution General Commission said government troops were reinforced in the camp area with more tanks, despite earlier reports that calm was gradually returning to the area.
