Bin Laden Body Guard Detained in Tunisia after Expulsion from Germany
Tunisia has detained the man believed to have been Osama Bin Laden’s body guard. Tunisian-native Sami Idoudi, 42, was taken into custody on Friday when he arrived after being deported from Germany where he waged a lengthy court battle to prevent his extradition. “Sami I.,” as he was known, lived in Germany for more than 20-years, including after his bid for asylum on the basis that he would be tortured or killed in Tunisia was denied. Nevertheless, Idoudi always maintained that he was not Bin Laden’s body guard and while spending decades in Germany and being denied asylum there, he reported regularly to police but was never charged with a crime or formally accused of participation in terrorist activities.
