Blast in S. Lebanon Hizbullah Depot in Area Where Arms are Forbidden

A large explosion that rocked southern Lebanon Tuesday night was apparently centered at a Hizbullah arms depot near the coastal city of Tyre. According to reports, Hizbullah forces did not allow soldiers of the Lebanese army to have access to the blast site. Israeli planes were seen flying over the area on Wednesday morning. The incident is proof of Israeli charges that Hizbullah continues to violate Security Council Resolution 1701 which ended the 2006 war, in part demanding that no weapons be brought below the Litani River and north of the border with Israel. Such explosions are not unusual in the area. The United Nations peacekeeping force, UNIFIL, said it would investigate.
