Bridal Gown Submerged in Dead Sea For Two Months

Most tourists who come to the Dead Sea spend just a few hours soaking in the mineral-rich sea at the lowest point on earth. The heavy salt content means the water is so buoyant you can read a newspaper as you float. Israeli artist Sigalit Landau decided to see what would happen if she left a bridal gown in the Dead Sea for two months. In an eight-part series called Salt Bride, now on display at the Marlborough Contemporary Gallery in London, the gown is encrusted with salt crystals. “It looks like snow, like sugar, like death’s embrace; like a white surrender to fire and water combined,” she told Israeli media.
