Member of the British parliament are protesting what they call the government’s “heavy handed” treatment of Muslims, warning that Muslim communities are being alienated by the tactics. At issue is a report that British intelligence will turn over to America’s Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) the names and personal information of almost 1,000 Muslim university students. The move in tied to the ongoing Detroit-based investigation into the foiled attempt to blow up a passenger jet last Christmas. The Independent reports that British intelligence agents have visited at least 50 homes of Muslim students, although no arrests have been made.
