The five British nationals who were kidnapped from the Iraqi Ministry of Finance building in Baghdad mark one year in captivity on Thursday. All five are men and are in Iraq as civilian contractors. One is an IT consultant working for an American management firm and the other four were his bodyguards. Although the families of the hostages complain the government has not kept them informed, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office claims that sensitive negotiations are underway. According to the BBC, the kidnappers had demanded a news blackout.
