Camels Come Home To Qatar

Thousands of camels crossed Saudi Arabia’s desert border into Qatar to be reunited with their relieved owners after they were stranded for days at the border. After Saudi Arabia and other Arab states cut diplomatic link and all transportation ties with Qatar over its support for terrorism, the camels were stuck on the opposite side of the border. According to the Reuters news Agency, hundreds of Qataris keep camels in desert areas in Saudi Arabia during the winter to train and breed them for races and beauty contests, and some camels can sell for hundreds of thousands of dollars. The Qatari government sent a convoy of water tankers and trucks with grass to the border on Monday to feed the camels on the other side of the border. The return of the camels was an “unofficial” agreement with Saudi border guards, the report said.
