Christian Political Leader in Lebanon Survives Assassination Attempt

Lebanese lawmaker Michel Aoun, long-time head of the nation’s leading Christian political party, the Free Patriotic Movement, said on Sunday that his convoy came under fire on Saturday night as it traveled from the town of Jezzine to Beirut. According to the Beirut Daily Star, Aoun was not traveling in the automobile that took a bullet. Aoun is an ally of the Hizbullah terrorist organization’s political arm. In revealing the attack, Aoun said it was the fourth attempt on his life.
