CIA Chief: Iran Stopped Weapons Program, But Iran is Pursuing Weapons

Central Intelligence Agency Director Michael Hayden said in an interview with NBC News on Sunday that although he stands by the National Intelligence Estimate that says Iran ended its nuclear weapons program in 2003, he believes that Iran is still keeping open its option to create nuclear weapons. The somewhat confusing statement stems from Iran‘s continued efforts to develop a delivery system for the would-be weapons and its continued development of nuclear elements that can be used for peaceful purposes, but can also be extended for military use. Hayden insisted that Iranian defiance of United Nations resolutions shows Iran has something to hide with its uranium enrichment program.
