Conflicting reports of Iranian weapon ships seizure

Qatar has denied media reports that it seized two Iranian ships carrying weapons through the Gulf. The state news agency QNA quoted an interior ministry spokesman as saying “the reports about the seizure in territorial waters of two Iranian boats loaded with weapons are inaccurate. However, the Kuwait online paper Al Aan has reported that two Iranian ships were seized off the Al Zubara coast, close to Qatar’s territorial waters with Bahrain. Bahrain has openly condemned what it called “blatant meddling” by Iran in its domestic affairs following weeks of protests led by the kingdom’s Shiite Muslim majority.
Last week, Turkey halted and then released two Iranian jets bound for Syria which reportedly were laded with weapons.
