Congressional Delegation Headed by Ryan Arrives in Middle East
US Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R-WI) and his six-man delegation met in Riyadh with Saudi King Salman on Wednesday as the first stop on a tour dedicated to issues of security. According to his office, the themes that will be discussed on the tour include regional security, ISIS, terrorism and Iranian aggression.” The visit is a follow-up to efforts by President Trump to improve relations with nations such as Saudi Arabia that suffered during the eight-years of the Obama administration. But in May, when President Trump made his first overseas trip, he came home with a $100 billion military hardware deal from the Saudis alone. Ryan’s reception by the House of Saud appeared to be less taxing than his meetings with House Democrats.
