The mass beheadings by the Islamic State of 21 Coptic Christians from Egypt in Libya last week has touched-off a mass return home by remaining Copts. More than 15,000 passed through the Sallum crossing point in northwest Egypt in the past several days. Hundreds of thousands of Egypt’s Christians are in Libya where they seek employment. The Egyptian government has assisted in the reverse migration by chartering flights back to Egypt from Tunisia as well. Thousands of the Copts fled to Tunisia during the revolt in 2011 that overthrew strongman Mu’amar Al-Qadaffi.
