Cyclone Hits Oman and Yemen Leaving 13 Dead

The nations of Oman and Yemen were hit by the fierce winds of cyclone Mekunu, the strongest storm ever to reach the Arab Peninsula, over the weekend. In its wake, 13 people died. Water supplies in both countries were affected by the cyclone, and according to reports published by the Associated Press, entire roadways were “swallowed” by the flash flooding caused by Mekunu. Socotra, the UNESCO heritage site island in the Arabian Sea causing a large degree of damage and killing at least 7 people who were washed away by the flood waters.
