Defiant Morsi Calls for Revolution from Prisoners’ Dock

Speaking from inside a glass cage that serves as the prisoners’ dock in the Cairo courtroom where he is being tried, ousted Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi used his trial appearance to encourage his fellow citizens to “continue the revolution.” Morsi told the court and by extension exhorted the Egyptian people that, “the revolution by the people won’t stop – continue your peaceful revolution.” As he does whenever given the chance, Morsi reminded those listening that he is still the president, “I am present here by force.” Morsi has begun a frontal attack on Field Marshal Abdel Fatah Al-Sisi, the man who led the military that ousted both Hosni Mubarak and Morsi and who now plans to seek the presidency himself. He admonished the court that, “The head of the coup, the defense minister, has killed more than 3,000 people in the streets. He is the one who killed them and it was not investigated, but he will be held accountable."
