People are alarmed at the direction journalism is taking. When “they” determine what is acceptable to be reported and freeze out (and worse) those who don’t kowtow to a specific ideology, that is a sharp turn away from press freedom, freedom of speech and indeed, the very bedrock of the principles of democracy and civil society.
The Media Line Press and Policy Student Program allows a number of talented young journalists of the future to hone their skills in a working newsroom in a contentious region. Working side-by-side with seasoned veterans, our students encounter reality and learn how to make the right choices. It is these talented and dedicated young writers who will lead the next generation – with your help.
