Despite Israel-Hamas Cease-fire, Thousands Of Gazans Riot Along Border As ‘March Of Return’ Protests Persist

Upwards of ten thousand Palestinians rioted along the Gaza Strip border on Friday as the latest instalment of the so-called “March of Return” protests again turned deadly. Demonstrators reportedly burned tires and launched incendiary devices at Israeli soldiers, to which they responded in some cases with live-fire. According to the Hamas-run Health Ministry, four Gazans were killed in the clashes and dozens more injured. The latest violence comes amid an uptick in Hamas activity in the West Bank. Earlier this month, a cell directed by the terror group carried out multiple attacks, killing two Israeli soldiers in Givat Asaf and causing the death of a three-day-old infant delivered prematurely after his mother was injured in a drive-by shooting outside the Jewish community of Ofra. The attacks were perpetrated by two members of the Barghouti family, the first of which, Saleh, is the son of Hamas’ leader in the West Bank. The other, identified as Saleh’s brother As’am, remains on the run. In response, Israeli forces have arrested dozens of Hamas members in the West Bank, while the homes of the two Barghouti terrorists have been slated for demolition. Nevertheless, Jerusalem is still permitting fuel and Qatari cash to be delivered to Gaza’s terrorist regime. All of this, meanwhile, comes on the backdrop of last month’s loosely-defined eleventh-hour truce deal that averted the fourth full-blown war between the sides in the past decade.
