Divers Cut Internet Cable in Egypt

Egypt’s naval forces captured three scuba divers who were trying to cut an internet cable underneath the Mediterranean Sea, a military spokesman said. It was not clear who the three men were or why they were trying to cut the cable. Col. Ahmed Mohammed Ali said the men were caught on a speeding fishing boat just off the port city of Alexandria. Meanwhile, Egyptian telecommunications officials said a weeklong Internet slowdown was due to damage caused by another cable to a ship.
