Doris Halaby, American Mother to a Jordanian Queen, is Dead

The Royal Court of Jordan has announced the death, on December 25th, of Doris Halaby, the American-born mother (of Swedish origin) of Queen Noor, the widow of the late King Hussein II.
A statement said that “The Hashemite Royal Court mourns death of mother of Her Majesty Queen Noor Al Hussein, who died earlier that day in the United States.”
The announcement specified Halaby, born Carlquist, was the grandmother of four half-siblings of Jordan’s current king, Abdullah II: Prince Hamzah, Prince Hashim, Princess Iman and Princess Raya.
