Dozen Israeli Soldiers Injured in Suspected Terror Attack in Jerusalem
Twelve Israeli soldiers were injured, including one critically, in a suspected car-ramming terror attack in a popular Jerusalem nightlife district in the early hours Thursday morning. According to police, the driver fled the scene and “a large force of officers [was] carrying out searches.” Israeli media reported that the perpetrator’s car was later found abandoned near Bethlehem. The incident comes amid heightened tensions in the West Bank, where a Palestinian teen on Wednesday was shot dead in Hebron by Israeli forces who claim the youth had thrown a Molotov cocktail in their direction. The Palestinian Authority has called for mass civil unrest in the territory in protest of US President Donald Trump’s Middle East peace plan. Hamas has also called for attacks on Israeli Jews, whereas Iran’s supreme leader interjected himself into the conflict: “We believe that Palestinian-armed organizations will stand and continue resistance and the Islamic Republic sees supporting Palestinian groups as its duty,” Ali Khamenei said.
