Druze, Police in Bloody Clash in Northern Israel

At least 37 people were wounded – some with gunshot wounds – Tuesday morning when police clashed with Druze villagers in northern Israel. Twenty-seven of the wounded are police officers. Two medics from the Red Shield of David emergency service sustained serious wounds. The melee reportedly began when police arrested several residents of the village of Peki’in for setting a cellular antenna on fire a couple of days ago. Police used live ammunition and tear gas to disperse the crowd that had formed.
