Egypt opened the Rafah crossing point with the Gaza Strip for two days beginning on Saturday. Immediately, 2,500 people left Gaza for Egypt and about 1,000 entered Gaza from Egypt. All either had residence permits or were considered humanitarian cases. Rafah will again be open on Sunday. Thousands of government employees aligned with Fatah, who work in the Gaza Strip, are striking over what they say is harassment by Hamas. Hamas in turn has threatened to take action against anyone not showing up for work.
