An Egyptian army operation in the northern Sinai Peninsula targeting the terrorist group Ansar Bayt Al-Maqdis left 6 gunmen dead on Monday night and another 8 detained – among them five wanted fugitives – on Tuesday morning. Ground troops and attack helicopters participated in the assault south of Sheikh Zuweid city and Al-Arish. Meanwhile in Libya, where the Islamic State recently beheaded 21 Egyptian Coptic Christians, Egyptian President Abdel Fatteh Al-Sisi called for a United Nations Security Council resolution to authorize international force against ISIS in Libya. The call came on the heels of Al-Sisi's own unilateral action of bombing ISIS targets in retaliation for the mass-murder of the Copts. He called for the arming of the internationally-recognized Libyan government.
