Egyptian superstar Mohamed Salah beat out five competitors to win the 2017-18 Professional Footballers’ Association Player of the Year award. Salah, who was transferred from Roma to Liverpool last summer for nearly $50 million, scored his 31st English Premier League goal over the weekend to match the most-ever tallies a 38-game season. He is also just the fifth player in history with forty or more goal involvements (nine assists) in a single EPL campaign, and with 5 games remaining looks primed to set himself apart in the record book. Salah, who started his professional soccer career in 2010 for hometown club El Mokawloon, will play for the Egyptian national team in the upcoming World Cup in Russia.
