An Egyptian journalist’s conviction for writing about President Hosni Mubarak’s health has been upheld by an appeals court in Cairo. The original sentence of six months for Ibrahim Eissa has been reduced to two. Eissa is the editor of the newspaper Al-Dustor. The court ruled that by writing about Mubarak’s health issues, Eissa caused foreign investors to pull their money out of Egypt, thus threatening the country’s stability. The international community has condemned the trial and verdict, and continues to criticize Mubarak’s human rights record.
